In this blog post, I want to take a look at some of the nearby counties to get an idea of which ones have the highest number of homes sold. Further, I wanted to look inside each of those counties to get an idea of which cities, towns, and villages have the highest number of homes sold. This analysis excludes Cook County, which by far, eclipses the surrounding counties in the number of homes sold as it contains the city of Chicago.
Let’s start with looking at the quantity of single family detached homes sold, by county, from January 1 thru November 30, 2019.

DuPage, Will and Lake Counties all have over 7,000 homes sold in the first 11 months of 2019. Kane and McHenry Counties trail the other counties by approximately 2,000 to 3,800 homes sold.
Let’s take a look at the cities, towns, and villages within each county that have the most single family detached homes sold. Some cities, towns, and villages cross county lines, so they have home sales in multiple counties. When that is the case, the sales in other counties are shown in the right column in the table below.

Naperville, Aurora, Joliet, and Plainfield lead the cities, towns, and villages in single family detached home sales with 1,568, 1,422, 1,274, and 1,217 home sale, respectively.
Now let’s look at the quantity of single family attached homes sold, by county, in the same 11 month period.

DuPage County leads the way with over 4,400 attached homes sold. Lake and Will Counties follow with about half that amount, over 2,000 attached homes sold. Just like the detached home sales, Kane and McHenry Counties follow the first 3 counties in attached home sales, with over 1,500 and 1,000 homes sold, respectively.
Let’s take a look at the cities, towns, and villages within each county that have the most single family attached homes sold. Again, for those cities, towns, and villages that cross county borders, the sales in other counties will be shown in the right column in the table below.
