On one hand there’s the national wear red day that is targeted toward raising awareness and funds for heart disease in women.  And then there’s RED Day, (Renew, Energize, and Donate) where your local Keller Williams agents and brokers throughout the United States and Canada volunteer their time to renewing and energizing aspects of their local communities.  This year, RED Day is Thursday, May 13, 2010.

Last year was a phenomenal success where we volunteered our time and our talents (and yes, I was there too) to help local families get some of those tasks done around the house that are just too much of a challenge for the homeowner to do on their own.  We worked with the local Salvation Army to identify families that needed our help and to identify what it was that the homeowners needed us to do.  The generosity of the local Keller Williams’ agents and brokers was amazing and the response and gratitude from the homeowners we helped was overwhelming.

Each year RED Day is held to honor our Vice Chairman, Mo Anderson.  Here’s a link to a letter Mo wrote after RED Day 2009.

We have 28 local families we are going to be able to help for this year’s RED Day.  I am not only excited and honored to be a part of this wonderful community event, but am blessed to be associated with all of the caring and generous real estate professionals at Keller Williams who are willing to volunteer their time to renew and energize the community.  If you see a group of people wearing red t-shirts on Thursday working around one of the homes in your neighborhood, I challenge you to stop by and find out how you too can help, if not this year, then next year.  Or just stop by and say thanks for caring.

I had a great time at Scarecrow Fest this year.  This is just one of many events held in the Fox River Valley that make this a great place to live.  There were lots of things for the whole family to see and do and lots of delicious food and treats.  If you happened to make it to downtown St. Charles, you were treated with a double dose of chills this year.  One from the scarecrows and one from the weather.

Below are a few pictures of my favorite scarecrows.

I hope you had a chance to enjoy the festival.  If not, be sure to mark your calendars for next year.
